We had a racoon tear a 2 foot gash in our tent- is there any glue that would fix this?

The hole is toward the bottom on the side. The tent is 10 x 12'. Any suggestions? We had a racoon tear a 2 foot gash in our tent- is there any glue that would fix this?
You want to patch the gash, not just glue it.

A patch will be stronger than just gluing the gash - and you have to be careful - some synthetic materials can actually be melted by certain glues.

What you use for the patch, will depend on the tent material, which you neglected to tell us, hehehe

Most sporting goods stores (and some sporting goods departments in other stores) will have repair/patch kits for tents of various materials. Stores that cater to hunters may also have them.

Some tents are made of Nylon, some are Vinyl, Cloth, etc... so its important to get the right kind of patch.

Here is a general search with the term 'tent patch kit', and as you can see, there is a patch kit available for practically every kind of tent -

Duct tape can be used to temporarily close up the gash, while out on a camping trip. I always carry a roll of good duct tape for emergency repairs like this while out. I'd recommend Gorilla brand duct tape - its more expensive than other brands, but its the strongest tape out there available off the shelf. I've used duct tape while out like this to temporarily patch holes in canoes, tents, sleeping bags, re-attach handles, etc.

I presume it is a canvas tent; usually a canvas patch can be sewed over it.
