I have been feeding a baby racoon with a bottle for a week, twice a day.?

He now has a wound the size of a quarter on his back with maggots. WILL peroxide help.I have been feeding a baby racoon with a bottle for a week, twice a day.?
look up local wildlife center in your area and bring it there.first of all not trying to be rude because i know you're trying to save the little guy but it should be eating esbilac puppy formula with heavy whipping cream every 2-4 hours.secondly the maggots on his back are a good thing in the wound because they will eat the dead tissue. But you need to get it to a wild life center so they can give it the professional help it needs if you have any other questions please email me hellokitty218@ymail.com

I'm pulling an all nighter any tips so I don't look like a racoon tommorow?

Well you're a guy, but concealer is about the only way to hide dark circles. Hopefully now that it's 3 days later, your eyes are back to normal. :-)

Once I catch a racoon or possum in my live trap, how far should I take it so it doesn't return?

I live in the country and don't want to kill anything.Once I catch a racoon or possum in my live trap, how far should I take it so it doesn't return?
Good luck, you are probably gonna be trapping for a long time. Both these animals have the ability to return to the home range if not displaced far enough. So be prepared to take a long drive.

Something else. Do NOT release any animal you capture on private property. I would suggest you don't get caught releasing it anywhere. All you are really doing is giving someone else your pest problem.

Raccoons can range over several miles. Have a home range from 2 to 4 square miles.

Opossum are mostly nocturnal. Therefore range and home range are more compressed than those of the raccoon.

Opossum, about half mile. Raccoon, about 7 states. Dont blame ya for not wanting to kill. We seldom do unless we intend to use it. Remember that any living creature is looking for something. Figure out what and take it away. Its almost always food. Then they will go elsewhere.

Did PETA stage the Racoon dog and husky skinning video?

Is this genuine inside information to help air what happens or is it animal snuff films created especially to help raise funds for the charity to stop this, so by killing and filming a few animals it could save many millions? I am confused as I have read PETA stage videos by paying the chinese skinners more to film intense cruelty and them show it as the norm. I would appreciate any factsDid PETA stage the Racoon dog and husky skinning video?
No they did not stage this, this is what acctually happens In china fur farmers are not governed, therfore they are free to kill these amimals in anway they like....I dont know about people paying to film them but If there is people seeing what actually happens to theese poor animals thn maybe the shock effect is needed to stop people from buying fur!

these poor animals are treated soo cruely they are not even treated like a living being... Its sick and UNFORTUNATLY it is happening.....Did PETA stage the Racoon dog and husky skinning video?
PETA does a lot of shady things. I haven't head of this, but I stopped paying attention to their antics long ago.

Do you know they want all companion animals (dogs, cats, rabits, etc) KILLED because we shouldn't own them as pets and they can't live on their own? And taht shelter PETA runs, they kill the majority of the animals that go in. They only adopt some out so they can claim to be a shelter.

Disgusting.
PETA very likely was in the making of the film, but I assure you it was not staged. This really happens. I have heard PETA is working in China and they very well could have been responsible for exposing it. I don't like PETA. Though who ever exposed this I'm glad they did, change will not happen if no one knows about it.
People Eating Tasty Animals. PETA. They are nutcases.
no sorry thst was not stage that was real that is how china treats there animals not nice
YES!

Is it legal to have a pet racoon in california?

Hi Ellie... any native wildlife cannot be kept legally in the state of California. Please see the following list which shows which animals are not legal to keep in CA: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/wildlife/species/n鈥?/a>Is it legal to have a pet racoon in california?
Raccoons are wild animals. They can be extremely aggressive and do not make good pets. I don't know if its legal anywhere(i hope it isn't) but i don't recommend trying to get one as a pet.Is it legal to have a pet racoon in california?
I don't think so i don't see why not.....i want a pet racoon now!!! That would be awsome!!!
No, they are wild animals

  • Does anyone have a pet racoon? Can they be domesticated? Please Help!?

I managed to trap a live racoon in my attic. He seems ferocious, but I bet after some TLC he will start to warm to me and my family.Does anyone have a pet racoon? Can they be domesticated? Please Help!?
When I was a child back in St. Olaf we used to keep racoons for pets all the time. We used to punt them to see how far they fly and swing them by the tails. We had a great time till the whole town broke out into the foaming mouth disease. It was un explainable where it came from but we werent able to keep our racoons anymore.Does anyone have a pet racoon? Can they be domesticated? Please Help!?
I'm a Wildlife Rehaber. One of my rescues are Raccoons.

And to answer your question NO. They are cute and loveable when their young but when they turn a year old their start getting wild. Please don't try to make a pet out of a raccoon.

Some states will charge a fine if you are found out.If you need anything answered cotact your local DNR.
    Umm negative.

You need to call animal control and have professionals take care of him and release him. He seems ferocious because he is, dont put yourself and your family in danger.
If it is a baby still needing weened there is a chance of making a nice pet for a while. but, as they get older they go by instincts and, tend to get mean. I have had several over the years they are like a destructive kitten and, very loveable as little ones. for your safety I suggest get rid of it if its past bottle feeding.. they do carry some diseases if they were to bite deep enough good luck
or you could just wear him
most people aren't lucky enough to have a racoon. I would recommend feeding him by hand so he can get to know your scent. This will make him become your friends and soon you can introduce him to your other friends like mike the monkey.

You do have a monkey named mike? If not then your not going to be able to cross the himalaya's in one piece.

Do you think they have Racoon's in Racoon City??
    1. It is illegal to capture and keep a wild raccoon.

    2. Wild raccoons are a major vector for rabies. Years ago, when I lived on the East coast, there was an outbreak of rabies. Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators were prohibited from accepting any raccoon or skunk from outside their own county, and raccoons from some areas had to be destroyed immediately if brought to a rehabber, even if they showed no signs of rabies. It is a very serious and very contagious disease that is fatal in humans if treatment is not started before the first symptom appears. If the raccoon bites you, or if you get any of its saliva on an existing cut, you need to get vacinated, and the raccoon may have to be destroyed.

    3. Raccoons do not ';tame'; once they reach sexual maturity. If it was a baby, you could fool yourself into thinking you had tamed him, but as soon as he reached sexual maturity, he would become agressive and destructive. As it is already an adult, you have no chance of taming it.

    4. Did I mention that it is illegal to capture and keep wild raccoons? It is also illegal to trap and relocate raccoons, due to the threat of rabies, unless you have the appropriate licenses and know where they are allowed to be released.

Contact a Nuisance Wildlife Control professional. That person would have the proper licenses and know where to legally relocate the raccoon so it is safe, and will not return to your attic.
Call the nearest Humane Society. The racoon could have rabies and bite you! You need to get him out of your attic. They can put the little guy safely back into nature!
A wild raccoon is not suitable as a pet. Also probably illegal where you live.
Dear god no please call animal control asap the poor fella will be terrified you really don't want to attempt to domesticate this intellegent little creature you will only store up heartache for yourselves and cause the critter misery and frustration and there is always the risk of rabies and other such diseases.

Don't be cruel by thinking you can keep it
please call animal control and have them take him out of the attic yes he is ferocious and may have rabies he will bite you under the best of circumstances and probably scratch you terribly please call animal control
No raccoons can not be domesticated. Its unfortunate that they can't because they seem like they would make nice pets. But the experts say they can't.

Here is a web site about it.

    http://www.isleauhaut.net/maskd/twentyre鈥?/a>
This is a wild animal. Take far away from your home and release it. racoons carry many diseases, the 2 worst being rabies and racoon roundworm. I hope you know what rabies is and does.* Not many people know about the roundworm. This is a parasite that only can live in the intestine of a raccoon. If it infects any other species it will eat through every organ trying to find the intestine of the raccoon. Needless to say this can cause a lot of problems and even death.

Even people who ';raise'; raccoons as pets need to have special permits. They are not pets!!! get rid of it now!!
