My dog got bitten by a racoon?

Does racoon have rabies? Should I take my dog to the vet ASAP.My dog got bitten by a racoon?
* If your dog hasn't already been vaccinated by all means get him to the vet*My dog got bitten by a racoon?
YES! GET OFF OF YOUR COMPUTER AND GET YOUR DOG TO THE VET!!! IT COULD HAVE RABIES OR HAVE SERIOUS INJURIES AND OR WOUNDS!
GO TAKE HIM TO A VET!!!!!!!!!!!

=( i hope hes gonna be okay
Does your dog have its rabies vaccination? You should take it to the vets anyways but that really matters, since rabies isnt cureable.
yes they do carry them but not all of them actually has it. (I got four kits coming by my place every night begging for food and they are just fine). The vet will have to keep him for a week though to see if the dog develops signs of rabies.
Your dog bitten by a raccoon? I think you should better take it to see the vet for a good check. In case that your dog don't have any sick or harmful stuff happen.
1. Raccoons can carry the rabies virus, Any warm blooded animal can. Coons, Bats, Humans even Pets. only way to know is to test the coon itself by amputating its head and sending it in for brain testing.

however, keep in mind... Rabid animal attacks are rare, Otherwise it wouldn't be such a shock when it does occur. In all my years working as a Vet tech and pet care specialist, I've only seen 1 case of a rabid animal attacking a dog, and the dog was up to date on shots and came out fine.

2. Since you don't have the coon... what most vets will recommend for If the pet has been vaccinated, re-vaccinate and quarantine.

many times in a wild animal bite, the animal gets away, and if the wild life experts aren't called in a certain amount of time, its probably going to be hard to find the animal.

if the pet hasn't been vaccinated, they'll probably do a quarantine and a series of rabies shots.

But above all else, yes, go to the vet.

While an actual attack by a rabid animal is rare... infection can onset from any animal fight that causes open wounds, and they need to be treated asap.
Yes!! Go to the vet. My cat was attacked by a Raccoon and they are very mean and nasty animals. I hope doggie is okay.
is your dog vaccinated for rabies? if not absolutely take him in to the vet asap. either way you need to get the wound cleaned, you don't want it to abcess. Chances are the raccoon doesn't have rabies, they're just very aggressive critters, but better safe than sorry.
Yes! Take your dog to the Vet ASAP. I would take mine ASAP and without asking anyone first.
It is possible that the raccoon could have rabies, so call or take the dog to the vet ASAP.
YES YOU NEED TO TAKE YOUR DOG TO A VET ASAP. I'M SO SORRY THIS HAPPENED, HOPE YOUR DOGGY FEELS BETTER. GOOD LUCK.
You get that dog to the vet now. Racoons have rabies and other problems. A serious infection could also happen.
You should take your dog to the vet immediately, and have it tested for rabies. Any wild animal might have it. If your dog does have rabies, your vet should call animal control, and they will look for the raccoon to get rid of it, so it won't spread the disease to other animals. Rabies is a very dangerous disease, and it has very painful affects on the animal, so you should get your dog checked right away. Good luck. I hope the dog's okay.
Take the dog to a vet pronto. Some racoons do have rabies or other infectioius disease. Do not delay.
It doesnt matter what bit your dog,any bite at all from another animal should be examined by his vet.
Racoons often have rabies. If you dog was bitten in the middle of the day, or if the racoon bit your dog under weird circumstances the racoon might have had rabies. I would take your dog to the vet very soon if I was you. Hope it helps.
Are his rabies vaccinations up to date? Does the bite wound need professional attention? I would call the vet or an emergency animal hospital and ask for their suggestions.

My dog killed a racoon and I called. They said he would be fine as his shots were up to date and he had no injuries.
I wouldnt worry about it. Does your dog have all its current shots? I grew up raising coonhounds that were bitten all the time. Can your dog lick his wounds or is it on his head..The healing properties of dogs saliva is unreal.

good luck.
You should bring your dog to the Vet so he can check the bite area so the Vet can check to make sure your dog won't get Rabies.
Call your vet when his office opens in the morning. Don't panic, if your dog is vaccinated he will most likely be fine. If you know where the raccoon is hiding, call animal control so it can be caught and tested for rabies. Was the raccoon acting strange or aggressive. That would be a bad sign. If it was simply defending itself I wouldn't be too worried.
If your dog hasn't had a rabies shot this year, you need to take him to the vet right away and get one. He might need to go anyway just to make sure there is no infection.
Unless you want a reenaction of Ole' Yeller, you'd better hustle your behind to the vet.
Take puppy to the vet for a look. I hope his shots are up to date- if so, he won't get rabies. The only way to know if the raccoon is rabid is to kill or capture it and take him to the vet or animal control. They'll kill it and examine it's brain.

Encounters between raccoons and dogs are common and they usually end up in a scrap because 'coons will eat dog food and most dogs don't like sharing with strangers.

Your dog will probably be just fine.
YES GO
i would just to be safe
yes, NOW...or as soon as you can. Keep children and other animals away from your dog. If you can find the racoon trap it and take it to the vet as well.
Do you have the raccoon? If not the dog has to get the rabies shots, and anyone who touched the dog might have to, also.

Don't worry, they don't give them in the belly anymore ... now it is a few in the butt, the rest in your arm.
My dog was bite by a raccoon once, the coon tore up my 120lb dog's nose. I freaked out... RABIES!! and poured hand sanitizer all over his nose and my hands and called my vet...He said ';calm down Killi's vaccinated, but bring him in tomarrow he may have an infection.'; If your dog is vaccinated then there should be no big worries.
I would take your dog to the vet. I hope your dog is ok.
