Can a racoon, kill a dog?

Can a racoon, kill a dog....ive always been told they could....is this true? Im sure it depends on what type of dog, but well say just an avg size mutt...Can a racoon, kill a dog?
It's certainly possible. If nothing else, it could severely injure a dog.

I wouldn't want any of my dogs (labs) coming into contact with a raccoon at all.Can a racoon, kill a dog?
it depends on the size or racoons could give rabies i think the dog would win tho
a raccoon could absolutely kill a dog, those things are tough as hell! If the raccoon is obviously outmatched and still fights the dog it has rabies and that would probably get the dog killed...there is also infection from a bite you didn't think was that bad...a raccoon could def kill a dog....

then again life is fragile and lol i have heard of dogs being killed by plants and dogs getting killed by pillows...and raisins...grapes either way a dog vs. a raccoon will not be a fun fight because even if the dog walks away he will still have a chance of rabies and infection!
its really true if the dog going harm them they will attacked other animal and even might killed it or harm it .
On land they can hold their own against an average sized dog. They could kill a smaller dog, and may be killed by a larger dog. In the water, the raccoon usually wins. They get on the dogs head, and hold them underwater until they drown.
It is possible
well to be honest with you it depends on the size of the

raccoon and the size of the dog if it is a small dog then yes it could! kill the dog , but if it is like a rottweiler then no it could not kind the dog .
Yes, they can. Those claws are very sharp and long and can dig down to a major vein causing the dog to bleed to death. Generally, they are not going to come out on top with a dog larger than they are.
i agree with Smile. They are very tough and annoying. I own horses and dogs so i have to make sure each feed container is sealed up and in the area where the live this drought has hurt everything and the coons are attacking harder. They can kill a dog in two ways,

1. their meaness

2. diseases, they carry quite a few
Yes, expecially it feels it needs to defend itself. They don't normall attack for no reason unless it may have rabies. If you think it actually attacted the dog I would have the dog tested, yes I know even if it is dead it might be good to know.
Of course, but I'd be more concerned about rabies.
Raccoons are very viscose, but I think a dog would win because a dog stands higher off the ground and is probably more agile.
