I myself have never tried it,but according to those that have ,(my father being one of them) it,s nasty tasting and smells like turpentine.but then, here our coons eat pine bark and the new pine needles.
perhaps yours taste better cause they eat different foods.
As far as nutritional value goes I'm sure its like other meat.
another concern we have here with the coons is rabies ,and it definitely wouldn't be good to eat a rabid anything!

According to the site below it's pretty high in fat but it's also really high in vitamin B12 and other important minerals. It's probably no worse or better for you than beef. Also, because it's a game meat it's clean and free of all the crap you get from processed meat. I mean that beef at the grocery store looks pretty in it's shiny plastic package, but who knows what they feed that cow, injected into it, did to it after it died, yuck!
If it wasn't good for you, there would be warnings on the nightly news about not eating Racoon. Until that happens keep enjoying it.
It's meat - it should be fine for you to eat. I haven't heard anything bad about it.
