Can you tell the difference between a racoon and a ferret?

Raccoons are Procyonids, wild animals and somewhat large, about the size of a large cat and bigger. With winter weight 2 I worked with decades ago weighed 15 pounds and 25 pounds (the second being unusually fat even for winter). Their faces are wide, their bodies bulky. They climb trees well. Their tails are ringed. Their walk has a bit of a waddle to it. They are marvelous at using their hands to manipulate objects.

Ferrets are much smaller, usually in the 2 to 3 pound range, so quite dramatically smaller than a raccoon. Pet ferrets are domestic animals and have been domesticated for perhaps 2,500 years. They are mustelids -- relatives of weasels and otters. They come in a range of markings, some with partial masks. (There is a wild cousin in the U.S., the Black Footed Ferret. In Europe there are closer relations who are wild: the European Polecat and the Steepe Polecat). They are gracile (sleek) and often move with the back curved up.

I think that some photos may help you:

Those are not for public snarfing but sadly it happens anyway, esp to the one of Telemna.

Ah, I'll edit in this one for size:

She is our Mornie, who is tad on the small size but still can give you scale. Can you tell the difference between a racoon and a ferret?
Yes. A raccoon has a very easily recognizable feature, his black mask around his eyes. Also, the raccoon has darker bands of color on his tail than the ferret. Ferrets also tend to be skinnier and smaller than raccoons. Can you tell the difference between a racoon and a ferret?
Well they are two very distinct different animals.

Racoons have the ';bandit look'; around the eyes like they are wearing a mask... with a ringed tail...much larger animals than ferrets

Ferrets are smaller / longer .
Yes, you can. Racoons are bigger and they have circles around their eyes. Ferrets are long and low to the ground.
