Is a 9mm to big for a Racoon?

I am getting a hi-point carbine and want to do some coon hutning. is it also to big for a fox?Is a 9mm to big for a Racoon?
It will work fine on them out to as far as you can reasonably expect to hit them. Probably 100 yards or less. The bullets would probably kill them out past 400 yards, but hitting something with a pistol round at anything much over 100 yards gets dicey. If you use hollow points or other expanding ammunition, it will get messy, and you will leave big holes in them. If that is ok with you, go for it. If you are looking to take them for their furs, check with your local game laws and see if you can use full metal jacketed bullets instead, as they will make smaller holes. Good luck, and good hunting. I have heard many glowing reports about those carbines and coyotes out to about 80 yards. Is a 9mm to big for a Racoon?
It should be a useful caliber for either animal. However, you should ask your state's wildlife agencyif that carbine is legal for hunting in your state. Some places require that magazines have a 5-round limit.
Not if you want it dead. A 9mm, within it's effective range in your carbine, does have adequate energy for small game such as racoon, possom, etc. It may not leave a lot of usuable meat, if you're hunting for the pot.
* No not really.* Use hollow point ammo.*
No its fine.
