How do I get rid of a problem racoon?

I have a bird feeder on my 2nd story deck that a racoon has knocked over and smashed. I put it up on a hanging pole but he managed to knock that down too. If I trap him, how far away does he need to go before I can rest assured he won't come back? Is there another way to keep him off my property like with buffalo vomit chips or a crucafix?How do I get rid of a problem racoon?
Only two sure ways of controlling a coon. borrow a trap from the county animal control and trap him and take him into the woods somewhere and release him about 5 miles away.

The other way is a good Coon Hound, but your neighbors will probably complain about the howling while he chases the coon away each night.How do I get rid of a problem racoon?
Catch it in a live trap and drop it off next to any restaurant's dumpster. He will have a much more attractive food source than your bird feeder and will never want to return to your yard.
I told you that you should stop wearing that raccoon suit when you sunbathe!

Here's what you do. Buy a female raccoon and dress her in a bikini. Tie a rope around her neck and have her swish and sway in front of your house. When the male raccoon starts to follow her, jump from your hiding place and scream, ';I'm groovy! I'm groovy! I ate the Vaseline!';

This will frighten the poor pest and he will permanently leave your neighborhood.

CAUTION: Do not do this if the raccoon or your neighbors have weak hearts.

You may send me a check for the appropriate amount.

stab it with a knife!
Get a box of epson salt and sprinkle it around your feeder. They get it on thier feet and dont like the taste when they go to clean it off
raccoons can be extemely dangerous. if you live in the country a couple of 00 shotgun shells in them works really well.
