How do you scare a racoon away ?

It's burrowing near my laundry room, in like a ditch ... I threw a rock, and it stayed there. Then I went in the house, opened the window, and I can see right over him ... I threw a can near his tail, and it growled, but didn't run away !!How do you scare a racoon away ?
Toss in some mothballs. The smell will drive the guy out and not do any damage to him. Be sure there are no other places on your property where the raccoon can get into. Close up access under the house and sheds and stuff like that. If you want to really be nice. Put the mothballs in there in the late afternoon. That way the raccoon will be evicted when he is going to be active anyway, around night time.

Don't try to throw stuff at the raccoon or anything like that. Don't pester the animal. They are a lot tougher and meaner than people think. A raccoon can seriously hurt a person. Besides, you don't want to risk rabies or some other disease from the critter.

If the raccoon keeps hanging around, you may want to call a game warden. It is not normal for raccoons to stay that close to people and be seen. They normally try to keep away from people or be hidden. A raccoon acting differently may be suffering from rabies. In fact, it might not be a bad idea to consult with a game warden on this right now.How do you scare a racoon away ?
keep a lion as a pet
bb gun
Bark at him loudly...confuse him ;)
I agree with A. Mercer. You may also want to make sure there is no food source around your house. if you have outdoor pets I wouldnt leave the food out for verry long. Let the animal eat then take away what is left over. You can also get a live trap and bait it (most shelters/pounds have these that you can rent fairly cheep or DNR may set one up for free) and once the animal is caught you can take it way out in the country away from other houses and release it.
**** they scare me away lol... biggest fear is recoons... but I did hear that they get scared by loud noises!
Try going outside banging a pot with a wooden spoon and if that doesn't work call animal control.
I heard a scarecrow helps or an owl ? thats just what i heard works
you may have to leave it alone -they can be very vicious and carry diseases. be sure that all garbage cans are always covered. seal the hole and all other areas around your home. this will help eliminate places for it to hide.
