How can I tell if a racoon is sick or not?

I recently found a racoon who is shaking a bit maybe due to the cold and isnt running away, which worries me. Is it possible he is just dazed from waking from hybernation or just could be sick?How can I tell if a racoon is sick or not?

It is possible that it's sick. If it's out during the day and not running from people, you should probably call animal control.

Because you can not know if an animal is rabid or not just by observing the animal, you need to contact your local or county animal control agency. They will investigate and remove the animal if it appears sick and needs to be examined by a veterinarian. Do not approach the animal yourself, and keep others, especially children and pets, away from it.
You should have a vet check him out. If he has rabies he'll walk funny and could get aggressive. If you think he just needs a little TLC leave him the option to leave because he probably will want to go back out into the world when he's better. But having a vet check him out is a good idea.
You didn't say HOW cold...just be careful of rabies.
