How do I catch a racoon humananely?

I have cats so I dont want to accidentily hurt my cats. What is the best way to do this.How do I catch a racoon humananely?

They weigh about 20-25 lbs each where I live, and many times you need to have a special permit to release them elsewhere. A lot of city raccoons can't survive out in the forest, because they don't know where the food and water sources are. I have looked up all the information about Raccoons and how you get rid of them is a few ways besides the way of a trap cage with food in it and when the racoon goes into the cage, then the door will shut. Like how the world use to catch a rabbit. Another way is called CRITTER OUT, you'll find it at your local pet store. Spray it all over the areas where the raccoon's love to go and soon they will leave. It does not hurt your other animals.
You can get a humane trap. They are long and rectangular. At one end is a door and at the other end is a plate. The animal walks in through the door and when it gets all the way to the other end it'll trip the plate, closing the door. Just put food beyond the plate.





If you use these, and you accidentally catch one of your cats, it won't hurt them. Just free the cat and reset the trap. You'll eventually catch the raccoon.

they tend to like tree's so maybe you could do it in a tree. i don't think many cats climb them
