Tried to cook and eat racoon -- will I die?

It's a long story (see my 360 blog) but I cooked a racoon earlier this week and tried to eat it. It tasted like the inside of Rosie O'Donnells shoe so I tossed it out. Now I'm wondering if I could get rabies from eating it? Why oh why do I have troubles like this in my life?Tried to cook and eat racoon -- will I die?

Coon isn't bad if it's prepared right. But it usually takes a lot of preparing. If you cooked it well, you can't get rabies from it. It's usually recommended that you cook wild game well (including venison) because of the risk of rabies. Then you don't have to worry about it. Bear meat should also be cooked well because of trichinosis.

as long as you cooked the raccoon until the meat thermometer registered 160 degrees, you should be safe. Safer than eating Rosie's shoes, anyway ....

No you will not get rabies since you cooked the flesh. Racoon is edible as is Opossium too.
